I am running for school board because I have a desire to make IRSD the best district in the State of Delaware.  I am personally invested in this district for many reasons.  As a multigenerational native farm family I grew up in this district as did my extended family and we see how the area is changing.  I currently have 2 kids in the district.  As a native, I have had the opportunity to see the uniqueness of this area as well as the  potential of our district.  However, after moving out of the area for nearly 6 years and residing in the Appoquinimink School District (Northern Delaware) I have had the opportunity to see how other districts operate.  This  perspective can help enable me to not necessarily continue to maintain status quo simply because this is how we have always done things in this district for years, but perhaps see some different ideas that can improve our amazing district.

Our administrators, teachers, and students are faced with many pressures and threats that are perpetually increasing. Issues such as safety/discipline, recruiting/retention, curriculum, and opportunities for advancement are at the forefront.  Additionally, recent changes in behaviors and mindsets that tend to run along political lines have a grave potential to negatively impact the children in this district as well as the rest of the country if we don’t act as leaders and stand up against implementation of such ideals and programs. I want to help ensure that we as leaders and parents are doing everything that we can to ensure that our children are given the best opportunity to succeed and become productive members of society as they transition out of this district and into life. I feel that starts at this level.  That is why I am running for school board.
