Mike Simpler Launches Campaign for 14th District State Representative

Community leader officially files as the Republican candidate to make residents' lives 'simpler'

Mike Simpler, current Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company (RBVFC) President and lifelong Cape resident, today announced he has officially filed for the 14th district representative seat. Simpler, the only Republican candidate, has been encouraged to run by residents in the 14th district, including Republicans, Democrats and Independents, who want an ambassador in Dover focused on local issues and solutions, economic growth and sensible policies.

“The residents of the 14th district want and deserve representation from someone who will fight for them every single day. I’m getting in this race because this district is my home – where I grew up and raised my family. I’m not doing this for a job; I’m doing this because we need a go-getting advocate, who listens to our community and will work across the aisle to get things done. There’s a lot to do in Dover.”

Simpler's core value of public service is demonstrated by his active involvement in numerous community leadership roles. In addition to his current position as the president of the RBVFC with over 40+ years of service, Mike, along with his son Zachary, is involved with Special Olympics and advances the important work for people with special needs. Mike previously coached and served on the executive board of the Rehoboth Beach Little League and as a founding member of the Rehoboth Beach Sportsplex, he has strived to provide recreational space and athletic fields for the resort area.

Simpler’s vision for Delaware centers on making the lives of the residents of the 14th district simpler. He will fight for economic relief, to provide grant-in-aid funding for nonprofits, to improve emergency services, while working to protect our environment, beaches and the inland bays. Mike will also continue to advocate for increased access to specialized healthcare and education opportunities, more public transportation, and the rehabilitation of infrastructure in Sussex County.

Mike Simpler is a proud Cape Henlopen High School graduate, who is employed at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. His blended family includes two daughters, Emma and Paige, and three sons, Quinn, Zachary, and Wyatt. He lives with his wife Kim Simpler and their mini-goldendoodle Isla at their home in Dewey Beach.

Simpler will make his announcement for office in early July. For more information and to get involved, visit https://simpler4de14.com/
